About the Artist

I was born in Cuba, but my work is not particularly ethnic in any respect. I was educated as a scientist and engineer, but my artistic side has always been very important.

I have studied with local artists Jim Smyth and Charles Muench, and have taken workshops with Gregg Kreutz and Scott Jennings. I try to drop into the Palo Alto Art Center figure drawing sessions when I can.

I consider myself a contemporary realist, by which I mean I am unapologetic if my paintings actually look like something recognizable.

For this exhibit, I have selected works with appreciation of wine as a unifying theme.
